Open Tryouts - Mandatory Meeting Date Set
Posted 6-23-09 - MATC Softball team has scheduled their Mandatory Meeting for Tuesday, August 25 at 3:30 PM in Room 207. This meeting is required for all students interested in trying out for the team, recruited athletes and for all athletes returning for their second season of competition.

Tryouts are scheduled to begin:
Monday, August 31


MATC Players Earn All-Region Honors
Posted 5-22-08 - Two MATC softball players, Andee Brown (Sun Prairie H.S.) and Jacey Leighton (DeForest H.S.), received 2009 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region XIII-A softball honors.

In addition, Andee Brown was also named to the Region XIII All-Tournament team, along with teammates Stephenie Chellevold (Veroona H.S.) and Stephanie Wehner (Horicon H.S.). MATC Softball finished runners-up to number one nationally-ranked Rochester CTC in the NJCAA Region XIII-A Tournament in Rochester, MN on May 8-9.


MATC Beats Riverland, Falls to Rochester
Posted 5-9-09 - MATC Softball beat Riverland CC 11-10 to advance to the Region XIII-A Tournament Championship. Tied 10-10 after five innings, MATC managed a run in the top of the seventh to win by one run.

Krista Smithback received the win in relief as she pitched two scoreless innings. Steph Chellevold was 4-for-4 with an RBI while teammate Andee Brown was 4-for-5 with four RBIs including a home run.

In the Region XIII championship game, MATC ran into a very talented Rochester CTC team. Rochester jumped out to a 8-0 lead after four innings and never looked back. MATC managed one run in the top of the sixth inning but Rochester added another three runs in the final two innings to win 11-1 and advance to the national tournament.

Krista Smithback received the loss by pitching seven innings and giving up five earned runs. Andee Brown continued her good hitting by going 2-for-3.

MATC finished the season with a 7-15 overall record.


MATC Wins One, Loses One in Region Tourney
Posted 5-8-09 - MATC Softball won a game and lost a game on the first day of the NJCAA Region XIII-A Tournament in Rochester, MN.

In the first game, MATC lost to Riverland Community College 2-1 in eight innings. In the second game, MATC beat Ridgewater College, 8-6. More details will follow.

MATC wil play Riverland Community College again tomorrow at 10 AM.


Region XIII-A Tournament in Rochester, MN
Posted 4-30-09 - MATC Softball will be traveling to Rochester, MN for the NJCAA Region XIII-A Softball Tournament this year. The tournament will be held on May 8-9.

MATC is scheduled to play Riverland Community College on Friday, May 8 at noon.

MATC Loses Two to Division II Kirkwood CC
Posted 4-28-09 - MATC Softball lost two games to the #8 nationally ranked NJCAA Division II Kirkwood Community College Eagles on Saturday, April 25 at Hitter's Sportsplex in Middleton, WI.

In the first game, Kirkwood broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth as they scored five runs. MATC managed two runs on six hits but hurt themselves by committing seven errors. Carlie Olsen received the loss despite striking out seven batters in a complete game. Andee Brown was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

In the second game, Kirkwood scored sixteen total runs in the second and third inning to put the game away. The WolfPack did not have a hit and posted ten errors on the game. Keriann Schmidt received the loss for MATC.


MATC Gets Win in Ten Innings versus Du Page
Posted 4-24-09 - MATC Softball beat the #4 team in NJCAA Division III on Wednesday, April 22 at Hitter's Sportsplex in Middleton, WI.

Tied 8-8 in the seventh inning both teams had two scoreless innings before MATC scored a run in the top of the tenth inning. The one run proved to be enough as MATC won 9-8, recording 17 hits. Carlie Olsen earned the win by pitching a complete game and striking out seven batters. Lizette Davis was 4-for-6 with five RBIs.


MATC Will Play College of DuPage at Hitter's
Posted 4-21-09 - MATC Softball will play a doubleheader against College of DuPage at Hitter's Sportsplex in Middleton, WI at 3:00 PM. The game was originally scheduled to be played at MATC at 3:30 PM.


MATC Will Play Kirkwood CC on April 25
Posted 4-20-09 - MATC Softball will play a doubleheader against Kirkwood Community College on Saturday, April 25 starting at 2:00 PM.


College of Lake County Game Cancelled
Posted 4-17-09 - MATC Softball's game versus College of Lake County, scheduled for Sunday, April 19 at home has been cancelled.


WolfPack Softball Splits with Joliet JC
Posted 4-16-09 - The WolfPack Softball team split a home doubleheader with Joliet Junior College.

In the first game, MATC scored two or more runs in each of the five innings and posted twelve hit on their way to a 11-3 win. Carlie Olsen received the win by giving up just one earned run and striking out four. Steph Wehner went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

In the second game, MATC was tied 2-2 going into the seventh. Joliet then scored one run in the seventh to win 3-2. MATC outhit the visiting Lady Wolves but committed four errors. Krista Smithback received the loss pitching seven innings and giving up just one earned run. Andee Brown and Izzy Terry each had three hits for the WolfPack.


MATC Drops Two Against Kishwaukee
Posted 4-14-09 - The WolfPack Softball team travelled to Malta, IL, on Saturday, April 11, and fell prey to the Cougars twice in doubleheader action.

After Stephanie Chellevold drove in Jacey Leighton to tie the game at one in the second inning of the first game, defense took over until Kishwaukee answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. One run is all they would prove to need though, as MATC failed to answer and ultimately fell 2-1. Leighton went 2-for-3 for the WolfPack in the game, while pitcher Carlie Olsen (3-5) took the loss.

In the second half of the twin bill, Kishwaukee jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning of play, and didn't look back as they handed the WolfPack their second loss of the day, this time by a score of 12-4. Leighton went 2-for-2 in this game, and Krista Smithback took the loss for MATC.


MATC Sweeps Triton College In Home Opener
Posted 4-10-09 - After several cancellations, the MATC Softball Team took advantage of the nice weather and defeated Triton College twice in their home field debut.

The WolfPack got off to an early start, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, and added another pair of runs in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. MATC held off a rally by Triton in the seventh to earn the 4-3 victory. Stephanie Wehner went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a double in the win.

In the second game, MATC once again staved off a Triton rally in the seventh inning to take the 5-4 win.

Posted 4-7-09 - MATC Softball's game versus Triton College, scheduled for today, in River Grove, IL has been cancelled.


MATC Will Play South Suburban in Middleton
Posted 4-5-09 - MATC Softball will play South Suburban College tonight (Sunday, April 5) at 7:30 PM in a single game at Hitters Indoor Sportsplex in Middleton, WI.

MATC Drops Final Two Games of Spring Trip
Posted 3-25-09- In their last two games of their trip to Winter Haven, FL, MATC fell to the Monarchs of Macomb CC by scores of 11-8, and 10-6.

In the first game MATC fell behind early, trailing 5-3 after two innings of play. The WolfPack outhit the Monarchs 15-11 in the game, but couldn't get enough runners to cross the plate in the loss. Andee Brown and Lizette Davis each went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Jacey Leighton and Ali Reigstad each went 2-for-4 at the plate, driving in three combined runs. Carlie Olsen received the loss for the WolfPack.

The second game saw more of the same, as MATC fell behind 7-2 after two innings of play, and couldn't make up the difference down the stretch, eventually losing 10-6. Jacey Leighton went 3-for-4 at the plate, and teammate Andee Brown blasted her fourth homer of the season for the WolfPack. Krista Smithback took the loss for MATC, her third of the year.

The MATC Softball team finished their spring trip with a 1-8 overall record, and will look to get back on the diamond Sat., March 28, as they're scheduled to take on Joliet Junior College in Joliet, IL.


WolfPack Gets Thumped By Waubonsee CC
Posted 3-25-09- The sunny blue skies in Winter Haven, FL, were about the only bright spot for the MATC Softball team on this day, as the squad dropped a pair of games to Waubonsee, each by a score of 10-2.

MATC garnered just four hits in the first game, with Sara Darr, Kelsey Schluter, Stephenie Wehner, and Andee Brown each tallying one. Carlie Olsen received the loss for the WolfPack.

The second game saw more of the same woes for the WolfPack, as they again fell to Waubosee by a score of 10-2. Andee Brown went 1-for-3 on the day with a pair of RBIs, as Kara Smithback took the loss, her second of the season.


MATC Drops Two Against Kellogg CC
Posted 3-25-09 In game one of a double-header in Winter Haven, FL, the WolfPack scored two runs in the seventh to send the game into extra innings but came up short in the eighth inning, losing 8-7. Steph Chellevold went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Carlie Olsen took the loss for MATC.

In the second game MATC struggled to find their rhythm, as Kellogg blew by the WolfPack by a final score of 13-2. MATC would manage just four hits in the game, while Kellogg tallied 13 runs on 13 hits.

Andee Brown continued to swing a hot bat, as she went 2-for2 with another home run, and Keriann Scmhidt (0-1) took the loss for MATC, who dropped to 1-4 on the young season.


WolfPack Can't Hold On Against Ontario
Posted 3-25-09 The MATC Softball team let a victory slip away in their third game of the spring trip to Winter Haven, FL, falling to Ontario Academy by a score of 11-10.

The WolfPack held a 10-7 advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh, but couln't hang on to the lead in the final inning.

Second year infielder Andee Brown had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with 2 Home Runs and 4 RBIs, while teammates Steph Chellevold, Jenny Norton, and Lizette Davis all went 2-for-4 in the game. Carlie Olsen took the loss for the WolfPack.


MATC Falls to Macomb CC
Posted 3-25-09 - MATC Softball dropped the second game of their spring trip to Macomb Community College, by a score of 17-8. The WolfPack held a slim 6-5 advantage heading into the sixth, but the Monarchs exploded for 12 runs in the bottom of the inning to put the game away.

Krista Smithback took the loss for MATC, as their record fell to 1-1. Former Horicon H.S. athlete Stephanie Wehner went 3-for-4 in the game, while teammate Lizette Davis was 2-for-3 with an RBI.


WolfPack Win Season Opener
Posted 3-25-09 - The MATC Softball team started their spring trip off with a victory over Northland Community College, 7-6, in Winter Haven, FL.

MATC collected seven runs over the first four innings, and staved a Northland rally in the sixth in holding on to the victory. First year pitcher Carlie Olsen, a former Monroe H.S. athlete, pitched a complete game and recorded her first victory on the young season.

Teammate Jaycey Leighton, from DeForest H.S., went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs, while Stephanie Wehner went 2-for-3 as well.

MATC Softball will Play UW in Tournament
Posted 9-17-08 - The MATC Softball team will play two NCAA Division I schools, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of Wisconsin- Green Bay in the Wisconsin Softball Fall Festival round robin tournament at Goodman Diamond on September 27th.

The game schedule is as follows:

11:00 AM - UW vs. MATC
1:00 PM - MATC vs. UW-GB
3:00 PM - UW-GB vs. UW
