Madison College Men Fall to Sauk Valley CC
Posted 11-18-09 - The Madison College men's basketball team went into the lockerrom at halftime tied 34-34 on Tuesday night in Dixon, IL. In the second half, the host Sauk Valley Community College Skyhawks proved too much down the stretch, outscoring the WolfPack 41-31 in the second half to lose 75-65.

Bobby Komoroski led the WolfPack with his first double-double of the season scoring 17 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. Three other WolfPack players were in double-figures including, Jared Barthels (14 pts.), Sam Wilkinson (13 pts.) and Kort Frank (11 pts.). The Madison College Men moved to 3-2 on the season.


WolfPack Men Fall Behind Early, Lose 63-45
Posted 11-16-09 - The Madison College men's basketball team fell behind 30-16 at halftime to the visiting Rochester CTC Yellowjackets and could not catch up in the 63-45 loss. Rochester CTC handed the WolfPack their first loss of the season, dropping Madison College to 3-1.

The WolfPack struggled to score against the Yellowjackets as they shot 23 percent from the field for the game and went just two-for-22 from beyond the arc. In addition to the shooting woes, Madison College was outrebounded 49-32 by Rochester CTC.

Center Jared Barthels and forward Kort Frank led the team with eight points apiece. The WolfPack spread the ball around as 10 players scored in the game.


WolfPack Men Win Tight Game at Home
Posted 11-13-09 - The Madison College men's basketball team survived a late game surge by the visiting Central Lakes College Raiders to win by one point, 68-67.

Second year forward, Kort Frank led all scorers with 18 points and teammate Bobby Komoroski pitched in with 15 points as the WolfPack improved to 3-0 this season.


Madison College Men Improve to 2-0
Posted 11-9-09 - The men's basketball team defeated Riverland CC handily, 98-64 to earn their second win in as many days in Worthington, MN. The WolfPack's margin of victory over the two games at the Worthington Regional Hospital Classic was 52 points.

Madison College used a big first half to jump out to an early 42-26 lead. The WolfPack went on to score 56 points in the second half in the route of Riverland CC. Kort Frank led the way for the WolfPack with 22 points. Bobby Komoroski had an outstanding all-around game by scoring 17 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out five assists. Second-year player Sam Wilkinson also scored 17 points and first-year player Courtney Brown, from Green Bay East H.S., added 11 points for the WolfPack.


Madison College Wins Season Opener
Posted 11-9-09 - The men's basketball team opened up the season on the road with a 75-57 victory over Minnesota West CTC in Worthington, MN at the Worthington Regional Hospital Classic.

The WolfPack controlled the game the entire way, leading 31-24 at halftime. The win was the product of a solid team effort with 10 players scoring in the game. Second-year players Bobby Komoroski and Kort Frank scored 19 points and 16 points respectively.

Open Tryouts - Mandatory Meeting Date Set
Posted 6-23-09 - MATC Men's Basketball team has scheduled their Mandatory Meeting for Wednesday, August 26 at 3:30 PM in Room 322. This meeting is required for all students interested in trying out for the team, recruited athletes and for all athletes returning for their second season of competition.

MATC Men Fall in Region Championship Game
Posted 3-7-09 - The MATC
Men's Basketball team once again fell short of the national tournament as they lost to the #1 nationally ranked Minneapolis Community & Technical College Mavericks, 80-64, in the NJCAA Region XIII Championship.

MATC trailed by only eight points at half but were outscored 39-31 in the second half. Once again, former DeForest H.S. athlete, Kort Frank had a big game pouring in 18 points to lead the WolfPack. Mike Paynter pitched in with 15 points and eight rebounds as MATC finished the season with a 21-8 overall record.


MATC Beats Rochester, Will Play Minneapolis
Posted 3-6-09 - The MATC
Men's Basketball team won their twenty-first game of the year with a 70-57 victory over Rochester Community & Technical College in Minneapolis on Friday night. MATC jumped out to a 36-28 halftime advantage in the NJCAA Region XIII semifinal game. In the second half, they maintained the advantage outscoring the Yellowjackets 34-29.

Grant Johnson led the way for the WolfPack with 14 points while Kort Frank pitched in with 12 points. MATC will play #1 nationally ranked Minneapolis Community & Technical College at 2:00 PM on Saturday in the championship game. The winner will advance to the national tournament in Delhi, NY.


MATC Plays Rochester CTC in Region Tourney
Posted 3-2-09 - The MATC Men's Basketball team will play Rochester Community & Technical College at the NJCAA Region XIII Tournament in Minneapolis, MN, on Friday, March 6 at 6:00 PM. The winner of the game will face the winner of Minneapolis Community & Technical College and Central Lakes Colege at 2:00 PM on Saturday. The tournament champion advances to to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Delhi, NY, on March 12-14.


MATC Moves on to Region XIII Tournament
Posted 2-26-09 - The Madison Area Technical College Men's Basketball team beat the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers for the third time this season defeating them in a tough, hard fought back- and-forth battle, 79-75.

Second year guard, Ryan Schernecker led the team in scoring for only the second time this season by pouring in 19 points on 5-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Mike Paytner, Kort Frank and Grant Johnson all scored in double-figures coming off the bench with 17, 12, and 10 points, respectively.

With the win, the WolfPack advance to the NJCAA Region XIII Tournament at the Minnesota Champion Host on March 6-7.


MATC Captures Second Straight Championship
Posted 2-22-09 - First year forward Mike Paynter saved his best game of the season for the WJCAA State Championship game, as he paced the WolfPack with 22 points in an 67-60 victory over UW-Waukesha.

After taking a slim one-point advantage into the locker room at halftime, MATC found their rhythm in the second half, shooting 52% from the field in the period. First year guard Grant Johnson scored all 12 of his points in the second half, and forward Kort Frank scored 11 of his 13 in the period as well.

The 2009 WJCAA State Championship is the third for MATC in the last four years, with all three victories coming over UW-Waukesha. MATC will play Milwaukee Area Technical College on Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Regional Final game. Tip off is set for 7:30 pm at home at the H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium.


WolfPack Men Advance In State Tournament

Posted 2-21-09 - Using a well balanced scoring attack and stifling defense, the MATC Men's Basketball team defeated UW-Marinette by a final score of 79-65. Kort Frank paced the WolfPack with 16 points, and teammate Justin Annen added 12 points, as 10 different players scored in the win.

After trailing by seven points at the intermission, the visiting Buccaneers tied the game early in the second half before MATC began to pull away. Back-to-back three pointers by guard Justin Annen sparked a WolfPack surge midway through the period, as MATC pulled away with the victory.

MATC will play in the WJCAA State Championship game versus UW-Waukesha at 2 pm on Sunday.


WolfPack Men Advance to State Tourney
Posted 2-18-09 - MATC shot a blistering 57.1% percent from the field in the first half to jump out to a 14 point lead at the intermission and held off the UW-Rock County Rattlers in the second half to earn the 76-61 victory.

First year player Kort Frank, from DeForest High School, paced the WolfPack with 15 points, while second year players Delmarius Steele and Justin Annen pitched in with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Bobby Komoroski also added 10 points as MATC had four players in double-figures.

With the victory, MATC advances to the 2009 WJCAA State Tournamnent, hosted by MATC. The team will play at 6:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, versus UW-Marinette in the H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium.


MATC Men Advance to Second Round
Posted 2-16-09 - The MATC Men's Basketball team advanced to the second round of the WJCAA State Playoffs with a 80-51 win over the visiting UW-Baraboo Fighting Spirits. The WolfPack jumped out to a 36-21 halftime lead and continued to add to the lead in the second half cruising to a 29 point win.

Former Germantown H.S. athlete, Bobby Komoroski led all scorers with 24 points on 5-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Teammates Ryan Schernecker and Kort Frank pitched in with 11 and 10 points respectively.

MATC will host UW-Rock County in the second round of the WJCAA State Playoffs on Wednesday night at 7:30 PM.


MATC Men Claim Conference Title With Win
Posted 2-4-09 - The MATC Men's Basketball team claimed their second straight Wisconsin Technical College Conference title with a 82-64 win over conference opponent, Fox Valley Technical College.

The WolfPack blew the game open in the second half by shooting over 51% and clamping down on defense to outscore the visiting Foxes 38-22. The win pushed MATC's conference record to 5-0 in their final regular season game of the year.

Second year guard, Justin Annen's 6-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc helped him score a game high 20 points. Three other WolfPack players reached double-figures including Ryan Schernecker with 13 points and Drew Mandli and Kort Frank with 12 points apiece.

MATC will play in the WJCAA State Playoffs next on Monday, February 16.


MATC Comes Up Short In Overtime
Posted 1-29-09 - MATC overcame a nine-point first half defecit to send the game into overtime, but it wasn't enough as they fell to the visiting Huskies from UW-Marathon 63-60.

The WolfPack, led by first year forward Bobby Komorowski's 20 points, had a chance to tie it at the end of overtime, but the shot fell short. Delmarius Steele and Drew Mandli added 15 and 10 points, respectively, as the team's overall record dropped to 14-7.


Schernecker's 31 Helps Take Down Milwaukee
Posted 2-1-09 - Second year guard Ryan Schernecker caught fire in scoring a career high 31 points as the WolfPack cruised past Milwaukee Area Technical College 81-66.

Schernecker shot over 64% from the field, including going 5-of-6 from behind the arc, and 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.

Bobby Komorowski and Delmarius Steele pitched in with 19 and 12 points, respectively, as MATC moved to 4-0 in conference play.


WolfPack Takes Down Foxes, 80-54
Posted 2-1-09 - First year forward Bobby Komorowski led four MATC players in double figures with a game-high 20 points, as MATC cruised by Fox Valley Tech in moving to 3-0 in conference play.

Montrell Hawthorne added 14 points, while second year players Delmarius Steele and Ryan Schernecker pitched in with 11 and 10, respectively.


MATC Men Rout Visiting Cavaliers, 110-42
Posted 1-7-09 - The MATC Basketball team shot over 50% from the field, forced 24 Cavalier turnovers and recorded 30 assists to score 55 in each half and win 110-42 in front of packed house for MATC's Jam the Gym.

The WolfPack were led by Chris Davis' 24 points on 11-for-15 shooting. Teammates Mike Paynter and Grant Johnson each pitched in with 14 and 11 points, respectively. MATC improved to 2-0 in conference play.


WolfPack Men Beat Milwaukee, 77-67
Posted 1-7-09 - The MATC Men's Basketball team shot well, forced nineteen turnovers and had seventeen assists in a 77-67 home win over conference foe, Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Four WolfPack players reached double-figures including former Germantown athlete, Bobby Komorowski who posted his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.


MATC Trumps South Mountain CC
Posted 1-9-09 - The WolfPack left the Scottsdale Community College Tournament as winners, defeating South Mountain CC in the final round by a score of 80-72.

Chris Davis led all scorers with 27 points, and first year teammate Mike Paynter dropped in 15 points as MATC improved their overall record to 10-6.


WolfPack Falls to St. Louis CC
Posted 1-9-09 - In the second round of the Scottsdale Community College Tournament, MATC lost a close contest by a final score of 62-58. The WolfPack rallied from a 14 point halftime deficit to make the game close, but fell short for the second time in as many days.

Mike Paynter, Delmarius Steele, Chris Davis, and Drew Mandli all scored double-digits for the WolfPack in the contest.


WolfPack Falls To Chandler-Gilbert In OT
Posted 1-9-09 - MATC erased a seven point halftime deficit in the opening round of the Scottsdale Community College Tournament by the end of regulation, but couldn't hang on in overtime as they fell to their Division II opponent by a final score of 86-84.

Chris Davis led all scorers with 31 points and pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds and tallied 9 assists in the loss, while teammates Grant Johnson, Kort Frank, and Delmarius Steele each pitched in with 10 points as the WolfPack fell to 9-5 on the season.


WolfPack Lose Tight Game to #7 Joliet
Posted 12-22-08 - On Saturday, December 20th, MATC traveled to Joliet, IL to face the #7 nationally ranked Joliet Junior College Wolves. The WolfPack trailed by four points at halftime but battled back in the second half, outscoring the host Wolves. MATC had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but a three pointer fell short. MATC lost 63-60.

Chris Davis led MATC by posting his second double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. MATC's next game is January 1 in Scottsdale, AZ.


MATC Falls to UW-Waukesha
Posted 12-12-08 - In playing their second road game in as many days, the WolfPack fell to the host Cougars by a final score of 90-83. While MATC held a one point advantage at the intermission, they couldn't hang on in the second half as they lost their third game of the season.

Chris Davis led the team in scoring with 26, while first year forwards Bobby Komorowski and Mike Paynter combined for 29 points in the loss. The team will have over a week to prepare before their rematch with #7 ranked Joliet Junior college on Sat., December 20.


WolfPack Rolls by UW-Rock County
Posted 12-12-08 - The WolfPack had six different players score double figures as they cruised to a 130-104 victory over the host Rattlers from UW-Rock county.

Second year forward Chris Davis led the way with 26 points, while Justin Annen and Kort Frank each pitched in 19 for MATC, as they won their sixth consecutive game.

Posted 12-9-08 - Tonight's MATC Men's Basketball game versus UW-Rock County in Janesville, WI has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 10 at 7:00 PM in Janesville, WI.


WolfPack Wins Fifth Straight Contest
Posted 12-8-08 - The men's basketball team raced out to a 15 point half time lead and never looked back in defeating Gogebic Community College by a final score of 84-56, winning their fifth consecutive game in a row.

Chris Davis paced the team with a career-high 37 points and added 8 rebounds, while first year players Grant Johnson, from Kenosha Christian Life H.S., and Bobby Komorowsk, Germantown H.S., scored 12 and 10 points respectively.


MATC Scores 119 in Rout of UW-Richland
Posted 12-3-08 - The MATC Men's Basketball team won their fourth straight game with a 119-48 rout of host UW-Richland in Richland Center, WI. MATC led by 35 points at half and outscored the Roadrunners 62-26 in the second half to win 119-48.

Four WolfPack players reached double-figures including Chris Davis, Cedric Collins, Kort Frank and Justin Annen scoring 20, 16, 15 and 12 respectively. MATC improved to 3-0 against state junior college competition.


Chris Davis Leads MATC to 80-57 Win
Posted 11-29-08 - The MATC Men's Basketball team won their third straight game as MATC shot almost 50% from the field jumping out to a 49-32 halftime lead over the host Anoka Ramsey Community College Rams in Coon Rapids, MN. The WolfPack went on to win 80-57.

Second year player, Chris Davis, poured in 30 ponts on 13-for-20 shooting from the field while teammates Grant Johnson and Delmarius Steele each added 10 points and Mike Paynter grabbed nine rebounds. MATC improved to 6-2.


MATC Routs UW-Baraboo, 76-38
Posted 11-25-08 - The MATC Men's Basketball team outscored UW-Baraboo 39-17 in the first half on their way to a 76-38 rout.

The WolfPack had three players in double figures and every player scored. Delmarius Steele led MATC with 13 points and four rebounds. MATC improved to 2-0 against state junior college competition.


MATC Cruises to Win Over UW-Marshfield
Posted 11-21-08 - The MATC Men's Basketball team jumped out to a 44-32 halftime lead and never looked back as they forced the visiting UW-Marshfield Maurauders into 24 turnovers.

In the second half, MATC outscored the visiting Maurauders 33-19 in the second half to win 77-51. MATC second year players, Chris Davis, Delmarius Steele and Justin Annen all scored in double-figures with 14, 13 and 12 points respectively.


MATC Loses to NJCAA D1 Sauk Valley CC
Posted 11-18-08 - The MATC Men's Basketball team was down by as many as fifteen points midway through the second half. The WolfPack battled back to make a game of it down the stretch against the visiting NJCAA Division I Sauk Valley Community College Skyhawks. In the end the Skyhawks proved to be too much as they won 67-59.

MATC had three players in double-figures. First year standout Grant Johnson, from Chirstian Life H.S. in Kenosha, WI, led the way with 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Second year players, Ryan Schernecker and Delmarius Steele each had 10 points as MATC lost their second game of the season.


MATC Falls in Championship Game
Posted 11-15-08 - The MATC men's basketball team fell to #2 nationally ranked Joliet Junior College in the championship game of the Border Battle Tournament by a final score of 79-63. After trailing for most of the game, MATC closed the gap to just six points late in the second half but couldn't overcome the sharp shooting of the visiting Wolves to win the game. Chris Davis led the team in scoring with 20 points, while first year guard Grant Johnson pitched in with 10.

On Friday, MATC defeated a tough Rochester CTC team 80-74 to advance to the championship match. Davis paced the squad is scoring with 21 points, while Mike Paynter and Grant Johnson each had 14.


MATC Men's Basketball Wins Two To Start

Posted 11-10-08 - In the opening round of the Sanford Hospital Classic held in Worthington, MN, MATC handily defeated Minnesota West by a final score of 96-81. Pre-Season All-American Chris Davis led the way for the WolfPack with 29 points, while Mike Paynter chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds.

In the second game of the Classic, MATC routed Riverland Community College by a score of 82-45. Davis led the way once again for the WolfPack, scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. First year player Bobby Komorowski (Germantown H.S.) pitched in with 11 points.

MATC starts the season at 2-0, and plays Rochester CTC in the opening round of the MATC Border Battle Tournament at 8:00 pm on Friday, Nov. 14.


MATC's Chris Davis Pre-Season All-American
Posted 11-7-08 - Second year forward, Chris Davis, was selected a 2008-09 NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Pre-Season First Team All-American.

Chris Davis, a former Madison East H.S. standout, helped lead Madison Area Technical College to a 25-7 overall record, including conference (WTCC) and state (WJCAA) titles last season.  He was MATC’s statistical leader in eight different categories, including scoring (21.5 ppg), rebounds (8.9 rpg), steals (49), field goal percentage (56.2%), three pointers made (62), free throws attempted/made (97/132), and total minutes played. Davis earned all-conference, all-state, and NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors for his play during the 2007-08 season.
